Southern Illinois 17-County Takeover Tour---SIU Chancellor Austin Lane to visit area high schools across 17 Southern Illinois counties and host evening receptions April 24-May 4th.

5/4 – Carterville at Walker’s Bluff Casino Resort, 6-8pm (Wrap-Up)

In Mt. Vernon, The 58th Annual Popcorn Pete Children's Variety Show will be held on Friday, April 26th & Saturday, April 27th. Four performances of “Popcorn Pete’s Family Reunion” will be held at Mt. Vernon Township High School Theater.

The show will feature Guardians of the Galaxy, Barbie, Scooby-Doo, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and more. This is a mutual fundraiser for MVTHS Special Olympics and MVTHS Drama Club. The Drama Club students write, produce, and perform the skits while the Special Olympics team handles ticket and merchandise sales! Find Popcorn Pete on Facebook for more information

 The Earth Day All Species Puppet Parade takes place on Earth Day, April 22 at 5:30pm at the Carbondale Town Square Pavilion. Observers and participants are welcome. If you want help making a puppet, attend a puppet-making workshop on Saturday April 20th from 10am to Noon. Create puppets of your favorite species in preparation for the parade.
