On this day in 1943 The comic strip, "Archie" was first broadcast on the radio.

The Du Quoin State Fairgrounds Farmers Market will begin with “Opening Day” at the Market, Tuesday, June 4 from 3 – 6 p.m. at The Cattle Barns on the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds.

In Herrin, Southside Lumber hosts their 8th Annual Car Show tomorrow from 8am to Noon on their parking lot. Enjoy music, food, awards, giveaways and lots of cool cars. You can still register. Just show up tomorrow at 7:30am to enter.

 
In Mt Vernon, Cedarhurst Center for the Arts is hosting Family Fun Pop-Ups at Veteran’s Memorial park. Pop-ups are free and open to the public featuring learning activities, arts & crafts, story time and snacks. Each event date will feature a different theme. Green Earth will be hosting their first ever beer crawl - Nature On Tap – with eight tasting stations located throughout the wooded hiking trails of Oakland Nature Preserve. June 1st, 2-6pm. Learn more at www.greenearthinc.org .
