ON THIS DAY in 2012 Michael Phelps becomes the greatest medal winner in Olympic history as part of the winning American 4 x 200m freestyle relay team in London; Phelps' 19th career Olympic medal and 15th overall gold

In Carbondale, Prairie Living at Chautauqua hosts The Veteran Car & Bike Show on August 13th from 5-8pm. Veteran residents of the facility will be judging the show and presenting the awards. There will be live music by Cat Daddy'O, food, drinks and games. This event is open to the public and located at 955 Villa Court, Carbondale.

In Springfield, the History Comes Alive program continues its 15th Season with a city-wide summer celebration of the Lincoln Legacy, Illinois history, and Kicks on Route 66. The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library hosts daily events through August 4th. Enjoy entertainment AND education through live music, acting presentations, games, meet & greets and more.  The City of Murphysboro kicks off their Sunset Concert Series tomorrow night at Carl Lee Park featuring blues & soul with the Juba Kings. Everyone is welcome. Bring a chair and your cooler, but leave your dogs at home. Concerts are every Thursday night in August from 6:30-8:30pm.
