ON THIS DAY in 1979, the 1st Gay and Lesbian Civil Rights March took place in Washington, D.C. with over 100,000 participants.

Locally,

The American Guild of Organists is delighted to present “Halloween Extravaganza” on Sunday, October 27th at 6:30PM; a free, public concert for all ages at Shryock Auditorium on the SIU Campus, in Carbondale. Haunting classics by southern Illinois organists. Celebrate this eerie October event by dressing up in costume. Encouraged, but not required.

In Murphysboro, the Second Annual Old Depot Bicycle Rally is October 26th at The General John A Logan Museum. Riders will complete a 20-mile challenge while exploring Murphysboro. Registration at 8am with the ride starting at 9. All proceeds benefit the Old Depot Restoration. Visit www.murphysborochamber.com
