ON THIS DAY in 1814, the first steam-powered warship, was launched in New York for the US Navy.

In Carbondale, attend a free reading and musical performance in support of the suspenseful new book titled, “Disturbing the Bones” which is set in Cairo. Disturbing the Bones is written by Delta Award-Winning Author, Jeff Biggers. Hear an excerpt of the book in a reading by Biggers and blues performance by Isaiah Cunningham. Enjoy the gathering tomorrow night, 7pm at SIU’s Guyon Auditorium at Morris Library. Free and open to the public.

 

The Olney Central College Music Department will host its Fall Concert at 7 p.m. on November 6 in the Dr. John D. Stull Performing Arts Center. The community is invited to enjoy performances by the OCC Concert and Big Bands, along with various chamber ensembles. Admission to the concert is free.

 

The High School Art Experience Exhibition SIUC Morris Library First Floor Rotunda 605 Agriculture Drive, Carbondale IL Reception: Tuesday, October 29th 6:30-7:30pm Refreshments will be provided. Please join us in celebration of the artwork created by CHRISTOPHER and COBDEN High School Artists in response to a guided exploration of the SIUC Photojournalism Exhibition: Views from Alto Pass and Cobden Weekend Workshop. This experience was developed by SIUC ArtED and led by SIU ArtED and Photojournalism students.
