In Makanda, The Southern Illinois Outdoor Summit is scheduled to be held on March 28th at Touch of Nature Outdoor Education Center. The summit is a transformative event designed to unite community partners, land agencies, businesses, and outdoor enthusiasts passionate about growing the region’s outdoor industry. Registration includes: full-access to the summit, a light breakfast and lunch on Friday 3/28 and access to Touch of Nature activities following the conclusion of the summit. Registration is open to outdoor industry professionals, government agencies, educators and researchers, non-profit organizations, private business, and the general public.

The Food Works Winter Farmers Market is an indoor farmers market located inside the University Mall Theater Entrance. It runs every Saturday through March from 9am-12pm. The winter offers access to fresh produce, locally sourced meat, dairy, eggs, and other handcrafted items.
