Happy Birthday to Francis Ford Coppola. The American filmmaker and Academy Award winner, responsible for films such as The Godfather trilogy, turns 86 today.

 
The Herrin City Library will host guest speaker Nicholas Guardiano as he presents his upcoming book, John James Audubon in Illinois: Artistic Rambles on an American Frontier (SIU Press) on Friday, April 11 at 2:00 pm. This event is presented by the Herrin History Room and is free and open to the public.
The book discusses Audubon's life exploring the wilderness areas around Kentucky and Illinois and his ornithological text, The Birds of America (1827-1838). The event is free and open to the public.

 
The Saluki Takeover Tour returns to Southern Illinois with six Chancellor’s Receptions next month. Chancellor Austin Lane and other campus leaders invite prospective students, fellow educators, alumni, and donors to attend the free events. Each reception runs from 6 to 8 p.m. and includes complimentary hors d’oeuvres. The next stop on the tour is tomorrow night in TJ’s Diamond Club at Mtn Dew Park. https://siuf.org/southern-illinois/
