A VA Resource Fair invites all Veterans, family members, and caregivers from Olney, IL and the surrounding communities to a Veteran Resource Fair. The event will take place Wednesday June 4th from 5:00 – 7:00 at the Olney Community Center located at 502 White Squirrel Circle. Veterans will be able to meet VA Executive Leadership, enroll in health care, learn about important benefit legislation and how to file VA claims. Dispose of hazardous household chemicals on Saturday, June 7, at the SIU Banterra Center! This drive-through chemical collection event is open to ALL Illinois residents! Proper disposal of these listed items keeps harmful chemicals from polluting the environment and becoming a health hazard. No business, agricultural, industrial, or governmental wastes accepted. Do NOT bring in empty paint or oil containers - throw away in your regular trash. Call 618-684-3143 ext. 128 prior to the event if you have containers larger than 5 gallons in size or any other questions. Combine loads with family, friends and neighbors to save on time and trips! Open to all IL residents but you must have an appointment.

 
The Fort de Chartres Rendezvous, a popular annual tradition in Randolph County, will take place June 7 and 8 at the Fort de Chartres State Historic Site. Rendezvous hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 7, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 8. Highlights include a flintlock muzzleloader shooting competition; period food, drink, and entertainment; artisan and craft demonstrations; 18th-century children’s games; militia and military events; and more. The Rendezvous is free and open to the public.
