The Southern Illinois Pagan Alliance celebrates the high point of the pagan year with its 2024 Samhain ritual, Saturday, October 25 at the Gaia House Interfaith Center in Carbondale. The gathering starts at 6 p.m., with a meet and greet. The ritual will follow at 7 p.m. A potluck will follow. Please bring what you can share. The two main interactive elements of this year’s ritual are the ancestor altar and the banishment box. The ancestral altar honors those you have loved and lost, recently, or long ago, including dear pets. These items can range from photos, keepsakes, cards, or other memories. Candles will be available to light. The second portion will focus on banishing. Fire will be the elemental focus for this part of the ritual. Think of something one wants to vanish, let go of, or get over with. This letting go can be manifested by creating a “banishing creation.”Size will be limited for the banishment so please think of what will fit inside a round banishment box and ultimately end up in the Gaia House fireplace. Basic supplies will be available. As always, SIPA rituals are free. All ages and well-behaved children are always welcome. For more information, contact Tara Nelsen at 618-924-0263 (text preferred) or email taracatofsipa@gmail.com, or Andi Darnell on the SIPA Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/groups/sipa1998 and through Facebook Messenger.
