Herrin City Library is hosting a symposium next month on the life and work of Buckminster Fuller. The 3-member panel will talk about Fuller’s life, legacy & accomplishments. Fuller was a professor at Southern Illinois University for 12 years. The event, “Inventing Tomorrow: Exploring the Legacy of R. Buckminster Fuller’s Design and Possibility,” is presented by the Herrin History Room and is free and open to the public. It will be held on Friday, December 19th at 2 p.m. in the Herrin City Library Meeting Room.
The annual Touch of Nature Buffalo Tro is returning on November 21 at Touch of Nature Outdoor Education Center. Those attending the Tro can expect a fun night of good food, local beer and wine, and a chance to support Touch of Nature. The meal features a steak cooked over hot, stacked hardwood with a baked potato, salad, rolls, and dessert.
Tickets are $50 each or $375 for a table that seats 8. Each ticket includes 1 entrée and 2 glasses of wine. Tickets for SIU students can be purchased for $35 per person, which includes admission to the experience as well as the meal. It does not include the two glasses of local wine.
