A community "Free Day" is set for Nov. 15 in Carbondale

Carbondale United

A local non-profit is collecting items to help support people in need.

Carbondale United's Jennifer Lampkins told the City Council at its last meeting, the items are being collected through November 10 to support people in need.

The collected items will be distributed at a community "Free Day" on Saturday, November 15 at the Collaboration Center in Carbondale.

Lampkins says homeless services will be provided from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This will include a hot meal, warm clothing, hygiene kits and resource referrals.

Then, from 1 to 4 p.m. community services offered will include free groceries, raffle prizes, winter items, local agencies and vendors as well as community resources.

As a news producer and news anchor on All Things Considered, Brad provides the listeners with a recap of the day's top local and state news as well as breaking news at any given time. Contact WSIU Radio at 618-453-6101 or email wsiunews@wsiu.org
