A Geminid Meteor Shower Viewing Experience at Giant City State Park in partnership with the SIU STEM Education Research Center.
Join Members of the Astronomical Association of Southern Illinois will be present with telescopes at Giant City State Park, just past Indian Creek Trailhead.

The Olney Central College Community Choir will present its annual Christmas Concert at 7 p.m. on December 12 in the Dr. John D. Stull Performing Arts Center.
This year’s event will feature a variety of selections that reflect the joy and spirit of the holiday season. Community members will also join in for some songs.
Following a long-standing tradition, the concert will conclude with a Christmas carol sing-along. Admission for the concert is free. Donations will be accepted to support the OCC Music Department.
The City of Carbondale is lit up beautifully this time of year with residents adorning their homes with lights and decorations of all kinds- and we want to celebrate these efforts with our “Let it Glow” Holiday Lights Decorating Contest!
From now until December 22, submit photos of your outdoor Holiday decorations at your place of residence to contest@carbondaleil.gov. Please include your name, address, and a telephone number to contact you at. A map will be created for a drive tour with all the entries submitted. The winner will receive a $50 gift card to Cotton’s Ace Hardware Store.
