The Adams County Democratic Party invites community members to join them for a free Community Meal and Hygiene Giveaway on Saturday, December 20th at 11:30 AM at Salem Church (9th & State). Every Saturday, Salem Church provides a meal for those in need. On December 20th, Adams County Democrats are honored to take a turn. However, this meal will be a little different.
The traditional holiday meal will include pulled turkey with gravy, roasted potatoes, stuffing, vegetables, and dessert. Salem Church will also be offering a hygiene product giveaway with items such as soap, toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and more.
The Food Works Winter Farmers Market is an indoor farmers market located inside the Carbondale Community High School Cafeteria (new location 2025-2026 season!) It runs every Saturday from December through March from 9am to 12pm.The winter market is a staple in the Carbondale community, as it gives our customers access to fresh produce, locally sourced meat, dairy, eggs, and other handcrafted items when the outdoor markets close for the season. The market accepts cash, card and even SNAP payments.
Sierra Club New Year’s Day Picnic at Giant City State Park: January 1,2026, 11AM – 2PM, Shelter #2. Bring precooked vegetables, rice or pasta to add to a community soup pot, side dish to share, and your beverage/reusable bowl/utensils. We will have a fire or two going and plan to eat around noon. Dogs must be on leashes. Hikes and more socializing will take place after lunch. Firewood is welcome. Sponsored by Shawnee Group Sierra Club, open to the public.
