During winter break, officials at Southern Illinois University Carbondale say they will continue to monitor the situation with COVID, the flu and other viruses.

At this time, they anticipate starting the spring semester on January 17 with in-person classes as planned. But, they'll be ready to adjust plans if necessary.

Officials will inform the campus community through email and post updates to the Virus Information website.

At a time of travel and family gatherings, faculty, staff and students are advised to take precautions to protect their health and their community.
