Nearly 1,850 students will be honored at SIU-Carbondale commencement exercises

The academic achievements of 1,844 Southern Illinois University Carbondale students will be celebrated during the Spring 2024 commencement exercises this weekend.

The totals include 1,193 candidates for Bachelor's Degrees, 387 candidates for master's degrees, 106 candidates for doctoral degrees, 77 law degree candidates, 79 associate degrees, and two undergraduate certificates.

673 students will wear special medallions and honor cords during the ceremony to reflect their academic achievement, including 86 University Honors Program students. Graduating students in active military service or veterans will wear red, white, and blue cords to recognize their service.

Each ceremony will include keynote speakers. The SIU Simmons Law School commencement will be held this Friday. Two commencement ceremonies will be held at the Banterra Center on Saturday.
