The Paul Simon Public Policy Institute at Southern Illinois University Carbondale will feature distinguished political scientist Norm Ornstein in a virtual discussion on Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, at 10 a.m.
The event is part of the institute’s “Understanding Our New World” series and will focus on the 2024 presidential and congressional campaigns, providing attendees with a detailed analysis of the political landscape.
Ornstein, an emeritus scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, is a highly regarded expert on U.S. politics, with over 40 years of experience studying elections, Congress, and political reforms.
He has played a significant role in shaping discussions on campaign finance, election reform, and governance in both the U.S. House and Senate.
His insights will help unpack the complexities of the race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, as well as the competition for control of Congress.
John Shaw, director of the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute, will moderate the discussion.
Shaw described Ornstein as “a deeply respected analyst of American politics” and praised his work on key books like The Broken Branch and It’s Even Worse Than It Looks.
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
Participants can register and submit questions through the institute’s website. The event will be held virtually on Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, at 10 a.m.
