Talented SIU ceramic students and faculty will be selling handmade bowls for the Empty Bowls event.

Empty Bowls is an international initiative. The program at SIU Carbondale was started in 2014 by Pattie Chalmers, professor and head of the ceramics program at the university.

Ceramics students will be selling bowls at the Neighborhood Co-op in the Murdale Shopping Center. Upon purchase bowls will filled with warm soup donated by the co-op. All proceeds will go to the Survivors Empowerment Center in Carbondale.

Empty Bowls will take place on October 12th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until bowls last.

As a WSIU donor, you don’t simply watch or listen to public media programs, you are a partner. By making a gift, you help WSIU produce, purchase, and broadcast programs you care about and enjoy – every day of the year.
