SIU will honor and celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday with a special week of service through Friday, January 24.
The theme is “Mission Possible: Protecting Freedom, Justice and Democracy in the Spirit of Nonviolence 365”.
Events include a student led panel on Tuesday afternoon and a noon time MLK Social Justice and Impact Oratorical Debate on Wednesday in the Old Main Room at the Student Center. .
Renate Greer, executive director of the Multicultural Resource Center on campus, says this week is to commemorate MLK’s lasting legacy and demonstrate his hopes and beliefs that we can make out communities better by serving one another.
Most events are free and open to the public.
