After two years in Chicago, the third annual SIU Saluki Ball returns to Carbondale.

In past years, Salukis and their supporters have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars through the ball hosted by Chancellor Austin Lane and Mrs. Loren Lane.

"We went to Chicago for the first two years and thought, 'Okay, that's a good area.' We're trying to recruit in that area and bring down some alumni. We have the largest alumni base in Chicago. But we always knew we would return to Carbondale at some point," said Chancellor Lane.

Numerous grants from $5000 to $50,000 will be awarded to students requiring financial assistance.

The Saluki Ball is set for Saturday, April 26, at the SIU Student Center Ballroom.

The black-tie-optional event begins with a cocktail hour at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner, a program, and a live musical performance by multi-platinum recording artist Exposé. A DJ will wrap it up at 9:30 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $200 each, with tables of 10 being $2000.
