Saluki Hall of Famer Mike Glenn returns to SIU to talk about Black history

Saluki basketball Hall of Famer Mike Glenn was back on the SIU-Carbondale campus last week for a presentation as part of the community’s Freedom to Freedom celebration.

WSIU's Brad Palmer sat down with Glenn to talk about his collection of African-American rare books and memorabilia to provide lessons into his research of Black history in America.

Mike Glenn is the 4th leading scorer in Saluki basketball history who helped lead the 1977 squad to the Missouri Valley Conference Basketball championship and the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Basketball Tournament.

Glenn was a 2-time Academic All-American, who earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics. He went on to play 10 years in the NBA and then became a sports broadcaster and author.

As a news producer and news anchor on All Things Considered, Brad provides the listeners with a recap of the day's top local and state news as well as breaking news at any given time. Contact WSIU Radio at 618-453-6101 or email wsiunews@wsiu.org
