SIU-Carbondale is receiving a state grant to support entrepreneurship and innovation in key growth industries around the state.

The funding, worth almost $1.6 million dollars, will support the University's SouthernTECH High-Tech Food Incubator.

This project is a new food processing and manufacturing-based incubator that will provide a lineup of high-tech, energy-efficient, and future-proof kitchen equipment that will optimize operations for food entrepreneurs and startups.

Grants are also going to various projects at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg and the DeepTech Innovation Lab at mHUB in Chicago.
