The Illinois Manufacturers’ Association (IMA) and the Illinois Manufacturing Excellence Center (IMEC) are set to kick off the 3rd annual "Makers on the Move" bus tour, celebrating Manufacturing Month.
This exciting initiative will run from October 4 to October 12, highlighting the essential role of manufacturing in Illinois' economy and the vast career opportunities within the sector.
The tour will commence at Ace Sign Company in Springfield, a notable manufacturer that also designed the decorative wrap for the bus, which features artwork created by a talented high school student.
The bus will traverse approximately 2,500 miles, making nearly 40 stops at various manufacturing facilities, colleges, and community centers across the state.
Industry advocates, educators, economic development leaders, public officials, and dignitaries will join the journey to engage with local communities.
Manufacturing remains the largest contributor to Illinois' Gross Domestic Product, generating over $580 billion annually and directly employing more than 660,000 workers.
With over 500,000 open jobs nationwide, including tens of thousands in Illinois, the tour aims to inspire a new generation to consider careers in this dynamic field.
