Illinois Chamber of Commerce Launches 2025 National Civics Bee

The Illinois Chamber of Commerce Foundation has officially launched the 2025 National Civics Bee, a state and national competition designed to encourage middle school students to expand their civics knowledge and engage more actively in their communities.

In partnership with The Civic Trust of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the competition will promote understanding of American democracy and foster a sense of responsible citizenship.

Participants will begin by competing in local rounds, with winners advancing to the Illinois State Finals in the summer of 2025.

Finalists will test their knowledge in a live quiz event, with the state champion awarded a $1,000 prize.

The state winner will also receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. to compete for the national title in the fall, with the national champion earning a $50,000 grand prize.

Ray Drake, Chair of the Illinois Chamber Foundation Board, expressed excitement about this initiative, highlighting its potential to inspire young Americans to become informed citizens.

Lou Sandoval, President and CEO of the Illinois Chamber, emphasized the competition’s role in empowering the next generation to shape the future of their communities.
