The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is inviting fairgoers to stop by their tent at the 2025 Illinois State Fair to learn how they can help build brighter futures for children. Located on Central Avenue, the DCFS tent will offer games, photo ops, and hands-on activities for kids - while encouraging adults to consider becoming foster parents or applying for jobs with the department.
DCFS Director Heidi Mueller says the agency is embracing innovation, from online medical consent tools to new training for mandated reporters.
DCFS will also take part in the Twilight Parade and is offering discounts to foster and adoptive families.
The fair runs August 7 through 17 in Springfield. For more information about Illinois DCFS, including becoming a foster parent, employment opportunities or services available, visit dcfs.illinois.gov.
DCFS promotes the safety and well-being of children, youth and families by responding to reports of suspected child abuse and neglect and providing family-centered care and connection to resources to strengthen families and keep children safely at home.
