The Jackson County Sheriff's Office and Illinois Law Enforcement are ensuring drivers take precautions during the holidays with their "Click It or Ticket" and "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaigns from November 17th to 27th.

Sergeant Ronald Stanton said, "Thanksgiving means more vehicles on the road- and an increased risk of crashes."

According to The Illinois Department of Transportation, those who plan to celebrate the holidays with alcohol and other impairing substances should coordinate a sober ride home before going out. Those who go out can use a taxi or ride-sharing service like Uber. Drunk drivers are to be reported to 911. Everyone in a vehicle must wear a seatbelt. Those with children must use a proper car seat.

The Thanksgiving enforcement effort is made possible by federal traffic safety funds from the IDOT.
