The Illinois Department of Public Health has delivered the final versions of the State Health Improvement Plan and the State Health Assessment to the Illinois General Assembly.
They form the basis of Healthy Illinois 2028, a five-year plan to address major public health concerns and improve the overall wellbeing of Illinoisans.
The five main priorities in the two documents are chronic disease, COVID-19 and emerging diseases, maternal and infant health, mental health and substance use disorder and racism as a public health crisis.
During the first year of the plan, IDPH and its partners will develop strategies to achieve these objectives and timelines for implementing them.
