In a recent speech on the senate floor, Senator Dick Durbin said the Trump Administration is engaging in quote, "troubling conduct" and posing a threat to the role of the judicial branch in the US government.

He mentioned the influence of Elon Musk, whom President Donald Trump appointed as a senior advisor. He discussed how Musk has repeatedly called for the impeachment of federal judges despite their lifetime appointments.

"This disregard for judiciary review has not been limited to words alone. Administration officials have failed to comply with federal court orders on multiple occasions. The administration has also nominated individuals to senior positions at the Department of Justice, seeming to have little regard for separation of powers."

Durbin also discussed Vice President JD Vance and Trump's recent social media posts. He pointed to Vance's false assertions online regarding the judicial branch's inability to check and balance out the president.

"Let me repeat this personal post by the President: 'He who saves his country does not violate any law.' Those ten words are rationale for tyranny, and are an assault on our constitution."

Durbin affirmed that according to the US Constitution, the executive branch must comply with federal court rulings.

He repeated a request he made in 2012 to the Supreme Court before its conservative majority, calling for an enforceable code of conduct.
