The Illinois Farm Bureau partnered with statewide county Farm Bureaus, or CFBs, to elevate rural communities.
23 Rural Development Grants, totaling one hundred and five thousand dollars, were awarded to support local projects throughout the state.
Some of this year's local grant recipients include the Xenia Fire Protection District for a new cut off saw kit, which will be used for rescues requiring firefighters to cut through metal objects or buildings. This grant was awarded through the Clay CFB.
The Edwards CFB received a grant for enhanced radio equipment for the Albion Rural Fire Department.
The Franklin CFB grant is toward its Farm Emergency Plan, which will assist in emergency responses at farms in the area.
Funds for the Massac County Youth Fair and Community Center will support renovations toward the county’s Community Center Building.
Baby Sarah's playground Planning Committee, through the Perry CFB, is a grant toward building a handicap-accessible play area.
