Damage from tornado in Williamson County of May 16, 2025

Williamson County Board Chairman Tim Atkisson has declared Friday's storm a local disaster.

The local disaster declaration has been sent to the state for consideration.

Both the local and the state have financial thresholds they must meet to request federal assistance.

Director of the Williamson County EMA, Brian Burgess, says they have sent teams out to make contact with all affected homeowners.

He is asking impacted residents to take time to complete the I-EMA Residential Self- Reporting Survey.

A violent EF-4 tornado with peak winds of 190 mph impacted southern Williamson County early Friday evening.

There were no fatalities, but seven people sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
