The National weather service is looking ahead at a new round of severe weather that will move into our area on Wednesday. The NWS office in Paducah office says southern Illinois is under a slight risk of severe weather in the late afternoon and evening on Wednesday.

Once that weather clears out we'll be looking at dangerous heat moving into the area.

Highs on Saturday and Sunday will peak in the low to mid 90's across the area which is about 5 degrees above normal. Heat indices will reach 100-105 degrees.

Even though the heat indices may stay below heat advisory levels of 105 degrees, meteorologists suggest treating these temperatures carefully since this is first significant heat event of the year.
