The Illinois Master Naturalist volunteer training program is looking for individuals to become engaged environmental stewards in Southern Illinois.

The program, offered by University of Illinois Extension is looking for volunteers to share their passion for nature with others. Volunteers work with state parks, refuges and other partners to help with stewardship work, educational outreach and citizen science collection.

For those interested, applications are being accepted for the hybrid training, which begins in April 13th and runs through June 8th. Regional experts will teach classes on ecology, invasive species, aquatic life, forestry, geology, herpetology, entomology, and much more.

Training will be held in Marion on Thursdays starting April 13.

To learn more about becoming a Master Naturalist, call the U of I Extension Jackson County Office at (618) 687-1727 or visit go.illinois.edu/2023SpringMN
