Carbondale will turn orange this Friday as the city joins a nationwide movement to raise awareness about gun violence. Community members are encouraged to wear orange in honor of those lost to gun violence, including Chicago teen Hadiya Pendleton, whose death inspired the campaign.
The event includes guest speakers, a live DJ, games, free food, and community resources. Organizers say it’s about both remembrance and action.
The gathering is free and open to the public. The Wear Orange event takes place June 6 at Attucks Park from 4 to 8 p.m. For more information or to reserve a vendor table, call 618-967-9993 or 618-306-5885.
