A Carbondale bookstore is helping young readers gear up for summer. Confluence Books recently donated four boxes of children’s books and raised nearly $500 through its Buck-a-Book fundraiser at the Carbondale Farmers Market. The donation supports the United Way of Southern Illinois Summer Reading Program.
Children from toddlers to teens can choose three books and receive snacks and fun activity items. The free book giveaway happens this Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the United Way office in Marion, located just south of Dollar General in the Town & Country shopping center.
