The Illinois EPA has awarded the City of Carbondale $250,000 to support energy efficiency improvements in publicly owned buildings.
The funding comes through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program, part of a statewide effort to help communities cut energy use and modernize infrastructure.
Officials say the grant will help Carbondale conduct energy audits and make strategic upgrades aimed at boosting resilience and lowering long-term costs.
