The Illinois Department of Transportation is hiring 161 seasonal workers in Southern Illinois to help with snow and ice removal this winter.
Positions include full-time and hourly highway maintainers, also known as snowbirds. Hourly pay starts at twenty-seven dollars and seventy-nine cents, while full-time salaries begin at just over six-thousand dollars a month. Applicants must have a commercial driver’s license, pass a background check, and complete drug and alcohol screening. Veterans will receive preference under a new law.
Applications must be submitted online at illinois.jobs2web.com, and IDOT says workers must be ready to respond at any time, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
