Marion, IL – Marion Police are warning local residents of a scam involving The Bank of Marion.
Officials say the scam targets Bank of Marion customers. Investigators say people receive a cell phone call informing them their account has been suspended, and the directing them to call another number immediately.
When victims call that number, they're asked to give out account information and personal identifiers - which police say is dangerous.
The Bank of Marion has confirmed it's not placing the calls, and authorities are urging anyone who receives such a call to hang up and call police.
