Two Arrested for Alleged Purse Theft at University Mall

Carbondale, IL – A 68 year old woman was robbed Friday afternoon on the east side of the University Mall parking lot in Carbondale.

The woman said that two men approached her, then grabbed her purse and ran.

Police located and arrested both suspects on the south side of the mall and incarcerated them in the Jackson County jail.

Eighteen year old Robert Kidd from Jackson Tennessee was charged with robbery and obstruction of justice while 19 year old Quentin Townsend of Murphysboro was charged with robbery, obstruction of justice, and resisting a police officer.

The purse was recovered and no injuries were reported.
