Carbondale, IL – Illinois Legal Aid Online and the Illinois Coalition for Equal Justice are partnering with three Jackson County libraries to provide Southern Illinoisans with a new resource for legal aid.
The Jackson County Legal Self-Help Center is an online database, providing legal information for litigants who can't afford legal representation.
Terri Ross of Illinois Legal Aid says the site is easy to browse and is geared toward low to middle-income residents.
Ross also said the site provides no legal advice. Without an attorney, self-represented litigants must decide what do based on the legal information they are provided.
Those without computers or internet access can access the site from the Carbondale Public Library, the Sallie Logan Public Library, and the SIU School of Law Library.
