The City of Carbondale will distribute free boxes of fresh food to residents on Tuesday, July 15, starting at 8:30 a.m. at City Hall’s west parking lot. The giveaway will continue until supplies run out.
Interim City Manager and Police Chief Stan Reno says the effort aims to ease the burden for families during the summer, when many face increased financial strain.
Residents who are homebound and live within Carbondale city limits can request food box delivery by noon on Friday, July 11. Deliveries are reserved for individuals with mobility challenges.
For more information or to request delivery, residents can email fjohnson@carbondaleil.gov or call 618-457-3229.
