Man Sentenced for Shooting Daughter's Dog with Pellet Gun

By Brad Palmer

Murphysboro, IL – A Murphysboro man is sentenced to probation and community service after pleading guilty to a Cruelty to Animals charge.

According to the Jackson County court records website, James Wooldridge pleaded guilty Thursday and was sentenced to two years probation and 100 hours of community service.

Wooldridge was arrested last December after police said he fatally shot his daughter's puppy with a pellet gun.

PETA had asked Wooldridge be sentenced to time in prison if convicted.
