McLeansboro, IL – A southern Illinois man is jailed on $1 million bond after being accused of gunning down a man who had been dating the suspect's estranged wife.
Hamilton County prosecutors on Monday charged 59-year-old Randall McMahon with first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm.
McMahon surrendered to authorities on Friday. Earlier that day, police say 24-year-old Adam Ritchey of McLeansboro was shot in the head while with McMahon's estranged wife as they were taking groceries to Ritchey's mother. Ritchey later died at a hospital.
McMahon is being held in the White County jail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 3.
