A fatal crash Thursday afternoon closed a portion of Route 45 in Saline County for over four hours.

Illinois State Police say 80-year-old Doyle Prince from Carmi died in the three vehicle crash just north of Cottonwood Road.

Troopers say Prince was driving north on Route 45. Vehicles driven by 28-year-old Brooklyn Bohach of Grayville and 63-year-old Dale Carrell of Grayville were heading south.

Prince was passing several vehicles when his vehicle sideswiped Bohach, causing her to hit the guardrail. Prince continued on colliding head-on with Carrell's vehicle. Prince's vehicle overturned.

Carrell and his passenger, 46-year-old Bonnie Carrell both suffered serious injuries and were flown to a regional hospital.

Bohach and two young children in her vehicle were not injured.

One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash late Thursday night in Alexander County.

Illinois State Police say a 55-year-old woman from Paducah was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which was on Route 3, just south of Route 127. Her identity is pending until family can be notified.

Trooper say a car driven by 29-year-old Matthew Foulks of Clarksville, Tennessee was driving north on Route 3 at around 10 p.m. when it crossed the centerline and hit a motorcycle driven by the woman from Paducah head-on.

Route 3 was closed for crash investigation and scene clean-up until about 2:30 a.m. on Friday.

Foulks, was charged with Driving Under the Influence, Improper Lane Usage, No Valid Driver’s License, and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
