Southern 7 Health Department is moving its Pope County Public Health Clinic to a new location in Golconda.

The new site will be at 118 North Market Street. Doors are scheduled to open July 6.

Southern 7 says the new location brings opportunities for future expansion of clinic services without increasing costs to residents.

The expansion includes the return of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children and Family Case Management programs. It's been more than 10 years since Southern 7 has been able to provide these programs in Pope County due to previous state budget cuts.

The new location also will eventually be the home of two Early Head Start classrooms. Each classroom will serve eight children between 6 weeks and 3 years of age. This will be the first time Early Head Start classrooms will be available in Pope County.

Residents will be invited to an Open House event following the July 6 opening.
