Hundreds of pickleball players coming to SIU for tournament Aug. 25-27

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Recreational Sports and Services is hosting more than 200 people from across the nation Aug. 25-27 for the 2023 Saluki Open Pickleball Tournament.

The third annual outdoor tournament, featuring one of the country’s fastest growing sports, will take place at the Saluki Courts on Marion Rushing Lane on the SIU campus. Participants, age 12 and older, include 18 SIU students and players from 12 states as far away as California.

Spectators and media are welcome to enjoy the action.

Here’s the schedule:

  • 4-10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25 – men’s and women’s singles.
  • 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26 – men’s and women’s doubles.
  • 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27 – mixed doubles.
