Glenn Poshard organized dozens of peace marches last year and a new documentary about it premieres on Saturday at the Varsity Theater.
At the end of September 2020 Glenn Poshard organized marches in 39 counties over 28 days.
These were the 39 counties he represented serving as a US Congressman.
Poshard wanted to send a message of peace, unity and nonviolence because he felt the country was divided.
Producer and director Sandra Pfeifer says she made the film so others could hear Poshard’s message.
“It’s important not to take democracy lightly, that complacency is not democracy’s friend. That the whole point of being in a representative democracy is that it is about people, it is people governing themselves.”
Pfeifer says they plan on showing the film at multiple places in Southern and Central Illinois.
