Water running over the dam at Crab Orchard Lake

Repairs are wrapping up and the drawdown is over at Crab Orchard Lake.

In July of 2021 Crab Orchard Lake was drained four feet to allow crews to make repairs on the dam and four boat ramps.

The dam repairs are complete and the rain last week filled the lake to its usual level.

Visitor Services Manager Neil Vincent says there’s two boat ramps that are almost finished, but the rain may delay their completion.

“We may have to lower it again for, uh, a foot or two or something like that, uh, uh, depend on these boat ramps. We know we haven't talked to the contractors; see how much work they can do and what he can do with these water depths.”

The boat ramps are expected to wrap up in a few weeks.
