Hunters in Illinois harvested a preliminary total of 53,348 deer during the first weekend of the Illinois firearm deer season between November 17 and 19.

That's a thousand more than during the first firearm weekend in 2022.

Hunters in Randolph, Jackson, Jefferson and Williamson counties were among the most successful this year.

Illinois’ seven-day firearm deer season will conclude this Thursday through Sunday.

Other deer hunting opportunities in the weeks ahead include the muzzleloader-only deer season from December 8-10 and archery deer season through January 14...archery deer hunting is closed this coming weekend in counties open for firearm deer season.
