Residents will soon receive an update on the Dam Safety Modification Study for Little Grassy Lake at Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Army Corps of Engineers is hosting a public meeting June 2nd from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Carterville Community Center.
The purpose of the meeting is to update residents on dam safety improvements at Little Grassy Lake. Work began to review the safety and repair the dam last fall. In December the Fish and Wildlife Service announced they were beginning a draw down of the lake because of safety concerns.
The meeting will include a presentation discussing the purpose of the study, the status of the process, and what the next steps will be. Illinois Department of Natural Resources will also be attending to provide updates on the future lake fishery.
