We are back, Carbondale! After a two year hiatus Keep Carbondale Beautiful is hosting its annual Spring Clean Up and Recycling Day event. This has been a community event since the late 80s. Covid gave the event a safe pause, in 2020 and 2021, and instead turned to a social media participation event.
The event goes as, groups/teams or individuals sign up prior to the day or the day of, April 23rd. The starting location is the pavilion on the Square, 121 N. Illinois Ave, Carbondale. 9 a.m start time, the event finishes at noon. Volunteers are given a short orientation on safety and trash handling, which participating in earns a raffle ticket for various locally donated prizes. Participants are given a route within town limits, and litter pick up supplies, tailored to the size of the group. They will be instructed to return to the starting point, the Pavilion on the Square. Raffle for items and free event tee shirts will be given away in the last hour of the event as volunteers return from picking up litter.
