All are invited to the Annual St. Joseph Stringtown Picnic. It is July 20 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. There is a smorgasbord lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the air-conditioned, handicap-accessible Parish Hall. There is a Food Stand with a cold beverage, grilled porkburgers and brats, ice cream, and much more that is open the whole time. Also a Beer & Wine Garden and local musicians for entertainment Cash Bingo, Raffles, Basket Raffle, Basket Pull Stand, Cake Stand, Fishpond, Pop Toss, Inflatables, County Store featuring homemade goods and local produce, and many more stands and games are also going to be available. Join us for the Fuller Dome Home Birthday Block Party, Saturday, July 12th from 5 to 9 PM, as the mayor kicks off the evening with a proclamation making it officially Buckminster Fuller Day in Carbondale, Illinois. We’re closing down the streets at Cherry and Forest, the city’s bringing the fire truck, and you’re invited to a unique event celebrating creativity, community, and Bucky’s visionary spirit. Enjoy live music from Beth and Pocky, Loose Gravel, Bite Risk, and The Acumen closing out the night, featuring a special live version of “Roam Home to a Dome.” Bring your friends, your chairs, coolers, water bottles and your support. And bring the kids for a bubble experience, sidewalk chalk, a piñata, and more. Enjoy dome tours led by board members, plus a peek inside the new Visitor Center before it’s built out. This is a community fundraiser supporting the programs and stewardship of the Fuller Dome Home, a landmark of imagination and possibility in Southern Illinois.
